AQA A Level Accounting Paper 1 is titled Financial Accounting and is a 3-hour written examination worth 120 marks, making up 50% of the full A Level. It assesses sections 1 to 8 and 14 to 18 of the specification, covering the double entry model, verification of accounting records, accounting concepts, financial statements for sole traders and limited companies, partnership accounts, incomplete records, ratio analysis, and ethical considerations.
Section A is worth 30 marks and contains 10 multiple choice questions worth 1 mark each, followed by several short answer questions worth up to 6 marks each. The multiple choice questions cover the full breadth of the Paper 1 specification, requiring students to apply knowledge of ratios, accounting concepts, errors, double entry, partnerships, and limited company accounts quickly and accurately.
